My name is Rosie Baron and I will soon be 13 years old. It is my goal to perform a Mitzvah and raise money for the Catherine Violet Hubbard Foundation, Inc.
A few short weeks before beginning Fourth grade, I moved with my family to Chicagoland; if I hadn’t moved, I would have continued my education at Sandy Hook Elementary School in Sandy Hook, CT. Following the tragedy of December 14, 2012, my family’s brokenhearted feelings were magnified as we dealt with our grief and emotions of being displaced and longing for our hometown and friends.
We were on the phone constantly with family and friends and looking for ways to feel connected with the only hometown and life long friends I know! With guidance, my mom would let me look at pictures and read snippets in the paper and on the computer. It was there that I got to know Catherine Hubbard.
My mom followed Catherine’s mom’s blogs. Through those beautiful details of Catherine’s compassion and connection to nature, I found myself relating to her families loss. Like Catherine, I have an older brother, and I wondered what twists and turns his life would have taken if either my mom (who worked at SHS) or myself had lost our lives that day.

Mrs Hubbard’s courage and strength to share her intimate thoughts and moments of Catherine are a gift for those of us reading her blogs. Her love for her daughter and the passion that Catherine has for animals was similar to my mom’s experiences with me.
When speaking of her, I say ‘the passion Catherine has’ because her pure love and joy still surrounds those who love and know her and it resonates in the special place that is the CVH Animal Sanctuary.
This past June, my mom and I took part in what would have been Catherine’s Birthday party. Her parents, brother and foundation members created a wonderful pet adoption and many booths representing all things nature. We helped create a booth called Butterfly Landing with the help of a neighbor of ours in Sandy Hook.
Now I am compelled to do more. I am going to set up Cups Of Kindness stand and put out the word in hopes that others too will contribute to this amazing foundation! It is my goal to raise 3000.00 by June 4, 2016.
Please help me in honoring Catherine by supporting me in my fundraising for the Catherine Violet Hubbard Animal Sanctuary!!!

The following information is from the CVH Foundation CVFHfoundation.org :
The Catherine Violet Hubbard Foundation, Inc. is a charitable organization that supports projects and programs that best reflect and honor Catherine’s memory, including the CVH Animal Sanctuary, Cornell Veterinary Medical School’s Shelter Medicine Scholarship, Catherine’s Peace Team, and Catherine’s Cups of Kindness. The Foundation is determined to spread kindness through acts of compassion and acceptance.
In May of 2014, the Connecticut State House of Representatives and Senate generously conveyed 34 acres of pristine state farmland to the Catherine Violet Hubbard Foundation, Inc. Located on Old Farm Road in the heart of Newtown, Connecticut the property’s breathtaking woodlands and rolling meadows will one day be home to the Catherine Violet Hubbard Animal Sanctuary. Little by little, CVH Foundation is continuing to make progress on the physical structure. Most recently, they’ve erected a pavilion sculpture on the property. The CVH Foundation anticipates officially breaking ground for the main building by spring of 2016.
