Help Roshanak Fight for More Time

Roshanak has always been a force of light.

At 44 years old, Roshanak is a brilliant university lecturer and tireless advocate for human rights. She could have left Iran long ago to build an easier, more comfortable life. Instead, she stayed, supporting her students, raising funds to build schools in rural villages, and giving back to the country and communities she loves. Everyone who meets her feels her warmth, her optimism, and her deep commitment to humanity.

Now, the woman who has spent her life giving needs our help.

Three years ago, Roshanak moved from Iran to Portugal, finally ready to pursue her dream of a PhD in architecture after more than a decade of teaching. But a year ago, everything changed: she was diagnosed with stage 4 colorectal cancer.

Doctors in Portugal can now offer only palliative care. In other words, the treatments available there can keep her comfortable, but they cannot extend her life.

There is, however, a glimmer of hope. Specialists abroad offering an individualized cancer treatment, her best chance to gain precious time. Time to laugh with her beloved husband Mohammad, to share meals and stories with friends, and to continue inspiring the people who love her so deeply.

But this treatment and the travel it requires are expensive.

Because of her illness, Roshanak can no longer work, and their household income has been cut in half even as rent, groceries, and medical bills climb.
