Rosa & Edgar's Cancer Support Fund
Donation protected
This page is set up to be a source of support and an out pouring of love for one of the most amazing women I know, Rosa Galindo and her family. The funds raised are intended to be for assistance with medical bills, as well as household bills and support of their three children, a daunting prospect with the loss of her husband's wages.
Recently, Edgar "Audel" Herrera, a 37 yr old non-smoker, non-drinker was diagnosed with an extremely rare form of cancer (mono-synovial spindle cell sarcoma) which appeared in his right lung and was found on a routine chest x-ray. This cancer is so rare that none of the oncologists in Oklahoma have ever even treated it before. They travelled to Houston, to MD Anderson Cancer Center, to find an oncologist that knew how to treat it, and found that doctor. Unfortunately, insurance sent them back to Oklahoma, but they have the support of a wonderful oncologist here who will work with the support of the sarcoma specialist.
Unfortunately, despite a clear PET scan less than 3 months ago, his cancer has come back rapidly and has spread. The treating doctor has said it is "incurable" at this point but is starting aggressive chemotherapy to stop it from spreading.
Amidst all of this devastation, however, bills do not stop and they have actually increased significantly as the additional medical expenses come in. Those bills, time off work, and the transition from being a double income household to a single income household are enough to devastate anyone.
Rosa is an extremely dedicated wife and mother and medical assistant and "right hand" to Dr. Laura Kilkenny for almost 10 years. She is passionately involved in the daily lives of her extended and in-law families, as well as taking care of her patients. She gives her all to her family and somehow also gives that same "all" to her patients, never leaving to go home to her family until each and every one of her patients have had their needs taken care of!
Rosa married the love of her life, Edgar "Audel" Herrera about 9 years ago. They have two beautiful children together and Rosa is also the proud step mom to Edgar's son. While her strong work ethic and dedication to her patients is admirable, it pales in comparison to the deep love and unconditional devotion that Rosa has for her family. She is constantly ensuring the overall well being of those around her. At the root of any problem, struggle, or trial you face; there you'll find Rosa. She'll be the one volunteering to help, putting the work in behind the scenes without allowing recognition, or simply being the mediating voice of reason at just the right moment. She is always the first one to step in if someone needs a hand. It could be a family member, a co-worker, a friend, or one of her patients, Rosa will find a way to reach out with a heartfelt gesture. She often sacrifices her own needs in exchange for fulfilling another's.
This brave, genuine, devoted wife and mother truly deserves the support of everyone around her! Its our turn to sacrifice and go out of our way to make our support known to Rosa & Edgar & the Galindo/Herrera families. Money shouldn't be an additional stress during all of this... She already has so many other struggles to deal with. Let's take this one off her hands... Thank you in advance for your gift, as well, as your much needed prayers. God Bless you.
