Calling all friends, family, acquaintances, and giving souls! I am reaching out today on behalf of my beautiful sister, Jenna, her partner, Ronnie, and my two darling nieces, Joliet (age five) and Jerra (age two). Tragedy has struck her family, and she needs our help.
As many of you know, Ronnie was admitted to Stillwater Medical Center on March 28 due to trouble breathing. After initial tests, it was confirmed that he had suffered a massive heart attack. We were all shocked to discover that it wasn’t his first. In fact, the tests showed this was Heart Attack #14 for Mr. Beel. He would later spend the week of his 40th birthday hooked to a defibrillator.
The months that followed brought new challenges for Ronnie, Jenna, and the babes. Ronnie has been in and out of the hospital with ongoing heart complications. He was relocated to St. Francis hospital in Tulsa so that he could have access to specialized care as well as be nearer to his family and friends. He has been at St. Francis for nearly two weeks already this go-round. Jenna is now commuting regularly between the spa where she works in Perkins to the hospital in Tulsa. As a result, she has had to drastically limit the amount of appointments she books with clients, and her vehicle is experiencing some major wear and tear of the excessive miles on the road.
At the time of writing, Jenna is at the hospital waiting to see Ronnie after a surgery to install an internal defibrillator. The nurse reports that the surgery went smoothly, and Ronnie is recovering well!
As you can imagine, Ronnie’s medical bills are astronomical and counting (his very first ER visit alone was $10,000!!!!). I am not here to ask for donations to cover his medical expenses* – I’ll hit up Bill Gates for that. Instead, I am calling for your help to support Jenna, Joliet, and Jerra in their immediate needs during Ronnie’s time of recovery. Jenna needs your help to pay for gas, tasteless meals from the hospital cafeteria, childcare, bills at home, and maintenance of her vehicle. Ronnie requires constant supervision during periods when not in the hospital and moral support when he is, just like Joliet and Jerra. Jenna has faced this growing challenge with tremendous grace and strength. Please join me in rooting her on by donating what you can.
No donation is too small, but you already knew I was going to say that, right?
A donation of $5 will provide childcare for one hour while Jenna gets some much needed sleep.
A donation of $10 will provide a treat/reward/prize for my little munchkin nieces for being such great sports and “road warriors” during their visits to Daddy in the hospital.
A donation of $15 will provide Jenna with a quick meal that she can scarf down while on the road to and from the hospital.
A donation of $55 will be an oil change.
A donation of $80 will go straight into the pump for Jenna to fill her gas tank. She can make about two roundtrips from Perkins to Tulsa on one tank in Ronnie’s big ass truck. (Anyone have an extra Prius laying around?)
*In an effort for full disclosure: If Jenna is able to apply any of these funds to cover co-pays or lab tests, I’m encouraging her to do so. If you would prefer that your donation be spent on something specific, please note that in the comments, and she will do her best to honor your request.
Let's fill Ronnie's damaged heart with love!
