Family and Friends,
Our dad, Roger GreenLeaf, is a loving husband and an awesome dad to his 5 kids and Papa to his 7 grandkids. Over the years he has instilled in each of us a can-do and never give up attitude. He is positive. He is a forward thinking man. His faith in God has always held him steadfast when faced with adversity. Now more than ever he will rely on God's ever presence in his life and the lives of his family as he faces his tomorrows.
On June 4th dad was diagnosed with T2 Tonsillar Cancer. The cancer was found in a tumor in the side of his mouth and jaw. While the prognosis is good since it was caught in the early stages of development, it is with extremely aggressive radiation treatment and therapy that the doctors believe he will be cured.
This treatment means that 2 times a day, 5 days a week for 7 weeks he straps on his mesh treatment mask to receive the radiation. Due to the intensity of this type of aggressive radiation he will experience extreme fatigue, his immune system will be compromised, there is a strong chance he will lose sense of taste and swallowing will become more difficult as each week of treatment passes. As a result of these side effects his doctor has told him to plan to be out of work for up to 8 months.
Dad has just completed week 2 and has been such an inspiration to us all! Continuing to keep a smile on his face every day and continuing to tell us “I’m doing well! Everything is good!” Those that know our dad know he never complains and will ALWALYS argue the glass is HALF FULL! But we know a little different story. We know he is beginning to have pretty constant extreme fatigue. He has lost his sense of taste and his swallowing is beginning to become more difficult. We also know that dad’s positive attitude will be what carries him (and us) thru this battle!
We have created the Roger GreenLeaf's Beat Cancer Fund. With so many unknowns facing our parents in the next year financially and with insurance that is average at best we are reaching out hoping you would consider making a donation to the fund. Your contributions to this fund will help our parents defray some of the ever rising expenses they are incurring during this difficult time. We are a proud family. Our Dad is a very proud man. We are appreciative of your offers to help us and any donation you make.
