Rod " Plastic" Overton

A callout to friends and family, “Plastic” needs our support. On August 28th, we all found out that that our dear Friend, Son, Father and Grandfather, Rod Overton fell gravely ill to a mysterious illness while working away in Saskatchewan.

At this time the doctors do not know for sure the source of illness, but it currently believed to be an aggressive form of Meningitis and remains under care. They are working on a treatment plan to slow the acceleration of the illness and give him some relief from the swelling in his brain because of the it.

Thankfully the treatments have been promising, and he recently showed the first promising sign by a short opening of his eyes. Doctors have been diligent and although he remains in intensive care on life support, the family has hope the recent developments will lead to an upward swing of his critical condition.

Rod has lived his life by helping others. From working in the oilfields of Western Canada to tirelessly caring for his family, Plastic has dedicated his life helping others in need. Rod is an example to us all.

Rod is not the type of man to ask for a handout, but he really needs our help. The recovery process will most certainly be long and expensive, exhausting all his savings and the stress will most definitely be mounting. Being a single income, he can't afford to miss work while he's sick from the illness and associated medications.

Please, don't wait to help. Every donation is greatly appreciated and will go a long way towards helping Rod and his family get though this difficult time. Rod has touched so many of us through his hard work, friendship, humour and charm. Let's show him how much he means to us.

For those of you that have not donated to GoFundMe it can be done anonymously. If you are not comfortable with this on-line donation it can be done from any RBC branch by depositing to an account to be set up in his name. This can be arranged thru Dana Dawe or Rob Overton.

We will be in touch with donors if any other kind of help is needed. The good news is he is still fighting in typical Plastic fashion and getting excellent care. Please help ensure that remains the case. If you could find it in your heart to donate, we would be forever grateful. It will give Plastic peace of mind and lower his stress level, which is imperative for his recovery.

Thank you all in advance.
