Our dear mother, Alisa Egan, was diagnosed with breast cancer on October 26th of this year 2015. She has always been our strong mother and now it's our turn to be strong for her.
She took wonderful care of the three of us growing up. If there was something within her power to make us feel safe and protected… she would do it. As a single mother she worked two part time jobs while attending school full time to provide for us and ensure our safety and our success. She took us on road trips and planned family outings so we would never feel the hardships she was facing. Our childhoods were filled with laughter and happiness and we owe it all to our rock star mom.
In the beginning of October she was unexpectedly laid off from her current employment. This was an obvious difficulty for her and heartbreak for our entire family; but, staying true to her strength she took it in stride and was back on the hunt for new employment the following week.
It was a few weeks later that we got her diagnosis. She had gone in to get her annual mammogram before her insurance coverage would end. They discovered a lump that day and scheduled her for a biopsy shortly after. When we received the phone call letting us know that the lump was in fact cancerous we were all in shock. This is the sort of thing that happens to someone else, or it happens in a movie, but this time it was us. Our mother has Invasive Ductal Carcinoma Grade 3 with 3 Axillary Lymph Node Involvements. Her cancer was unresponsive to the hormone tests making it a triple negative (meaning it isn’t trying to act like the surrounding healthy cells). Her cancer is aggressive and unpredictable.
Our mom has always been strong, she's a fighter, and we are all ready to beat this... but her medical bills are stacking high and quick. This is where you can help. If we can reach our goal the donations she receives should cover her medical costs completely. That way she can hit the ground running when she kicks this cancer’s BUTT!
We have already received so much support from those who love us and love our sweet mother. We are so grateful for your love and your support. It truly touches our hearts and lifts our spirits when we see your care and concern for the woman who gave us everything; this beautiful woman who has made this world a better place.
