In rememberance of Rocco Beneventi

On August 8th, 2022, my father, Rocco, suddenly and tragically passed away. Because of his unexpected passing, our family is left with the pain of his departure and the loss of financial stability for my mother, his widow Lena Beneventi.

Rocco always loved making those around him smile and laugh. I'm reminded of a story while he was working for the TTC as a driver, where he found a guide cane, and before turning it into lost and found, he decided to play a prank on his regulars. He entered the bus with his glasses darkened from the sun, using the guide cane to step on; instead of moving to the passenger seats, he approached and proceeded to sit in the driver's seat. His regulars were all laughing and smiling, and once the panicked non-regular passengers realized it, they all calmed down and saw the humour in it. That was my father. His sense of humour was unmatched, he always had a joke ready to tell, and he never wasted an opportunity to bring a smile to someone's face; his ability to do so was indeed a remarkable gift.

Rocco had a love for knowledge and sharing it with everyone, especially my sisters and me. Whenever we had projects we were working on, we would ask him questions about how to do certain things, and he wouldn't just do it for us; he would show us what to do, explain it, and watch us do it while offering advice the whole way through the task. He had so much to offer that no amount of time would even scratch the surface of what he could teach. There's an endless amount I could write about Rocco, from his kind heart and gentle hand to his ability to provide guidance and be there when he was needed, and none of it would begin to paint the picture of him adequately.

Rocco leaves behind his wife of 45 years Lena. His daughter Cristina, son Michael, and daughter Laura. His sister Angela. His brothers and sisters inlaw. His nieces and nephews. And everyone whose life he's touched.

Due to ongoing health issues, my mother has been unable to work and relied solely on my father to provide. With his sudden passing, my sisters and I set up this gofundme to help support our mother and give her some stability while we grieve together.
