Hello, Friends, Family, and Kind Supporters,My name is Robert Buckalew , and I’m reaching out with a heartfelt request for help in funding a service dog to assist me in managing my Post-Traumatic Stress Disorder (PTSD) among other life altering conditions. For years, I’ve been navigating the challenges of PTSD, which has profoundly impacted my daily life, relationships, and overall well-being. After extensive research and consultations with mental health professionals, I’ve learned that a trained service dog can be a life-changing source of support, offering both practical assistance and emotional stability.
Why a Service Dog?
A psychiatric service dog is specially trained to help individuals with PTSD by performing tasks such as interrupting anxiety attacks, providing grounding during flashbacks, creating a safe personal space in crowded environments, and offering companionship to combat isolation. These dogs are not only highly skilled but also provide a constant source of comfort, helping to restore a sense of safety and independence. For me, a service dog would mean the difference between struggling through each day and reclaiming moments of peace, confidence, and freedom.
The Costs Involved
Obtaining a fully trained service dog comes with significant expenses, including:Training and Acquisition: $10,000–$20,000, depending on the organization and specific training required.Initial Veterinary Care and Supplies: Approximately $1,500 for vaccinations, medical checkups, and essential gear like a vest and leash.Ongoing Care: An estimated $2,000 per year for food, grooming, and routine veterinary care.My goal is to raise $25,000 to cover the cost of acquiring a service dog and ensuring their care for the first year. This investment will provide me with a loyal companion trained to help me manage my PTSD symptoms and work toward a more stable, fulfilling life.
How You Can Help
Your support, no matter the amount, will bring me closer to this life-changing goal. Every donation will go directly toward the costs associated with obtaining and caring for my service dog. If you’re unable to contribute financially, sharing this campaign with your network would mean the world and help spread the word to others who might be able to assist.
My Commitment to You
I am deeply grateful for any support you can offer, and I promise to keep you updated on my journey. I’ll share milestones, such as selecting the service dog, training progress, and how this incredible companion is helping me reclaim my life. Your generosity will not only make a tangible difference but also remind me that I’m not alone in this journey.
A Personal Thank You
Living with PTSD has been an isolating and challenging experience, but your kindness and support give me hope for brighter days. With your help, I can take a significant step toward healing and independence with a service dog by my side. Thank you for taking the time to read my story and for considering supporting this cause that means so much to me.
With gratitude,
Robert Buckalew
Note: All funds raised will be used exclusively for the acquisition, training, and care of my service dog. I’m working to find a reputable organization to ensure the process is professional and transparent. If you have any questions or would like more details, please feel free to reach out.
