Feel Good Gourmet. Choose What You Pay!

Hello! and thank you for reading,

As many of you know, millions of Americans have become newly food insecure since COVID hit. Millions more are living in food deserts, or areas with no access to fresh fruits or vegetables. Atlanta, Georgia has not been an exception to this.

Wanting to help in some way, we created the Plateful.ly, a healthy meal kit delivery service that allows you to treat yourself to delicious food, while helping others in the process.

After our successful test-launch in a small area of Atlanta, GA, we’re ready to share our sustainable, community-based model in all areas of Atlanta, Georgia, and we need your help to open new kitchens.

Our mission is to “Make Food Priceless,” because we believe human dignity is invaluable. We believe every person should be able to eat a healthy and delicious meal, even if they can’t afford it.

How are we helping?  NO menu prices. Pay what you want | 50% of our profits are used to subsidize meals.

With your support, we can continue to expand and bring relief to thousands in Georgia!

Who are we?

We’re four friends who are deeply troubled by the number of people struggling to get by in the world’s wealthiest country. In response, we decided to create a community-based solution where everyone benefits

Each of us brings a unique perspective to our cause that has been incredibly valuable throughout Plateful.ly's creation process:

A data scientist whose PhD research focuses on Food Insecurity—a head chef with an impressive ability to incorporate nutrition into different cuisines—a Google software engineer with experience resolving technical issues for food businesses—an industrial engineer with an expertise in logistics and complex distribution systems.

Why are higher income people buying from us, too?

Plateful.ly is a win/win for everyone. We serve the same delicious, healthy, restaurant quality food to every customer—regardless of financial standing.

Plateful.ly’s Pay What You Want  service attracts different people for different reasons:

• Our higher income customers use Plateful.ly because they enjoy the convenience of having healthy meal kits delivered to their homes—they also appreciate the opportunity to help others in process.

• Our lower income customers use Plateful.ly because they enjoy the convenience of having healthy meal kits delivered to their homes—they also appreciate the option to only pay what they can, and nothing more, when money is tight.

Many of those we’ve impacted are newly food insecure due to COVID and just need a little extra support to feed their families. Hundreds of people have bravely shared with us how they’ve been struggling to feed their children on their newly restricted budgets, but Plateful.ly helps keep them afloat.

Won’t people just abuse this system?

We know what you’re thinking.

People will just take advantage of our system. It’s a free-ride. There’s no way this works.

Honestly, we feared the same thing at the beginning. But we’re happy to share, that couldn’t be more wrong. We’ve discovered that when given the choice, most people who can help, will. This isn’t a pipe dream. We prove it’s true at our single Atlanta based kitchen, every day.

Not only are people not taking advantage of our system, but they’ve been going above and beyond for each other, time and time again.

Far less people try to take advantage of our system than many would think. The majority? They are just like you and us. If needed, they lean on support. If not, they help others as much as they can.

Our system works because of the value alignment between Plateful.ly and all our customers. We’re uniting to lessen the strain of Food Insecurity in communities, and that’s why we’re sustainable.

Could you explain more?

How it works: Removing prices allows higher income customers to pay equal to or more than the suggested price. As a result, we use the profit to cover the costs for lower income customers who may pay less.

So, let’s say you’re a higher income customer buying a Meat & Veggie kit (pictured). You have the choice to pay above, below, or equal to the suggested price ($8.99).

If you choose to overpay, then the excess money will help pay for someone else’s meal—but you don't have to pay above to make a difference! Even if you pay the suggested price, you are helping someone with the profit of that purchase.

The decision is yours!

How will we use your donations?

With your support, we’re confident we can open more kitchens in Atlanta during this hard time. Then, we’ll continue to serve thousands in new communities from there!

For every $50,000 we raise, we’ll open one new kitchen in one new area of Georgia with the intent of serving 2,500 meals per week at each location.

And of course, 50% of all donations will be used to help subsidize meals for those who need support.

Plateful.ly relies on community backing to be effective, so the locations of our next kitchens will be based on where we receive the most support. That’s why along with donations, we’re asking you to tell us which area you’re from, so we know where to go next!

Why should I help today?

Plateful.ly aims to make asking for help a little easier.

Food Insecurity often goes unseen to the public. We can’t see the scarce or empty refrigerators. We can’t know who’s pulling together their last dollars to feed their families.

Millions also rely on school lunches to help feed their children. With fear of COVID, the harshest impacts of food insecurity will be felt very soon. That’s why we must start now.

We hope to bring our Make Food Priceless mission to as many people, in as many cities, as possible. We believe every person has a right to healthy and delicious food, even if they can’t afford itLet's team up and start to fight against the hunger in Atlanta, Georgia now.

Instead of seeking help, we’ll come to you.

Instead of using your last on food, take a few dollars off or have a meal on us

Instead of resorting to canned food, we’ll provide a healthy and delicious meal.

With your support, we can lessen the strain of food insecurity together!
