On Sunday, September 19th, Roberto was doing what he loves most, riding his bike. He was taking part in the Skull Valley Loop Challenge in Prescott, just one day after doing the Barn Burner 100-mile mountain bike ride.
Roberto was only a couple of miles from the finish of the ride on Sunday, and as he descended towards downtown Prescott, a car turned in front of him, and he went into the side of it.
There were heroic efforts to save his life and Roberto was airlifted to a Phoenix hospital. He sustained serious injuries including multiple fractures, collapsed lungs and a traumatic brain injury. Sadly, he succumbed to his injuries this week and passed away
This is where your help is really needed… You see, Roberto was not only a much-loved member of the Wheel Suckers Cycling Club and the greater Arizona cycling community, but more importantly, he was a father to Alyssa and Ariana, his two daughters.
Roberto was the friendliest person you could ever hope to meet and always shared his encouragement, time and advice. The bigger the challenge, the more he thrived, on a bike and in life. He was always pushing himself outside of his comfort zone.
We want to help Roberto's family in ANY WAY we can. If you can spare anything to help them in their time of need, it will be greatly appreciated.
Please pray for his family through this incredibly difficult period. We greatly appreciate your help, love and support.
In terms of the donations, i am working with Roberto's sister Geovana Moreno Cota to ensure that they are put to the best use in terms of the bills and his family.
