Hi my name is Tara Korinko Scola and it pains me to even have to write this. Over a month ago, my dad, Robert Korinko suffered a sudden cardiac arrest and was placed in the ICU on a ventilator for three weeks. During this time, we remained hopeful as doctors tried different procedures to help with his breathing, but in the mean time one of his lungs collapsed. A final procedure was done in hopes for him to ever breathe on his own, which was a tracheostomy. At this point, he was moved from Addison Gilbert to Kindred Rehabilitation Hospital in Peabody, where he is resting comfortably. The doctors believe there is nothing more that they can do to help him. My mother and I have made the hardest decision in our lives to place him in care and comfort and begin the process of taking him off his dialysis, that he has been on from a pre existing condition.
My father is a great man who has a love for fishing, being outdoors, playing chess and spending time with his family near and far. My dad would always be the one to approach you at any event and start a conversation with you. He truly made people laugh and feel they had a caring person by their side. My dad has been a sick man for a few years, but never let that stop him. Two years ago, my dad was able to be there to walk me down the aisle and meet my brothers daughter, his first grandchild. I am blessed to be able look back to the many great memories I shared with my dad and will hopefully recreate some with my own family. The reason I have set up this account is the hope to help with funeral costs. My father was raised Catholic and attended Catholic school throughout his childhood. My family and I would like to be able to give him a proper Catholic funeral mass and burial. The cost of this is much more than what my mother and I can financially afford. I will be forever grateful for your donations in helping giving my dad a proper send off to heaven. Thank you all for listening to my story of my dad. My family and I appreciate this more than you will ever know.
