This story is pretty well known but here's the short version. On November 5th, 2014 Deputy Robert Layman arrived at my house and picked my husband Jack Valenzuela up for work. This was Jack's first day back to work after a prior injury. Jack was in a nervous mood that day and I couldn't figure it out. This is the short part of a long story! While enroute to Conroe to pick up Jacks vehicle they came across a stranded motorist in the middle of the highway. They both exited the patrol vehicle and upon return they were struck by a speeding motorist. First impact was when Robert selflessly pushed my husband away from full impact and Robert absorbed the main blow from the crashing vehicle. Robert sustained catastrophic injury to his person especially his pelvis and both legs. He was repaired but it has turned out that his legs are not sufficient for a full return to his second love and that's working at the S.O. After nearly a year of constant rehab mentally and physically it has been decided that yet another leg surgery is necessary. Both of Roberts legs will be surgically broken and reset on September 30th, 2015. This Gofundme will help him and his family stay above water and allow his spouse to take the time off she needs with our super hero. Please pass this on to everyone you know and let's make this happen for the Laymans.

Thank you from the bottom of my heart, Heather Valenzuela
