If you’ve ever met Robert You know he is an amazing father to his 3 beautiful girls Arianna (8), Olivia (5), Stella (9M), an amazing partner and friend. Robert has always put everyone before himself with the best intentions at heart. He goes above and beyond for his family and friends. He’s the type of guy that you would be intimidated by his size but as soon as he would talk to you and smile you would see who he genuinely is. That’s why everyone has called him “BIG ROB”. He was best known in Ossining for his size & playing on one of the best football teams in Ossining High school history (2007) coached by Dan Ricci. Making it all the way the state semi-finals and finishing off with the achievement of being awarded as Section 1 champion and Region 1 champions. He was always surrounded by friends and his teammates. He is the type of guy who could make you smile and could have you laughing hysterically. He’s always been the guy to lend a helping hand! Now we are asking for everyone to lend him one in his battle with cancer.
Fast forward to the last 5 years, Robert has been battling with type 1 diabetes, 3 years later He was diagnosed with spinal stenosis. As of Wednesday October 14, 2020 Robert was diagnosed with Chronic Myeloid Leukemia at age 30. Robert went into the emergency room with severe stomach pain and nausea. When they drew his blood the doctor came back into his room and made him aware that his white blood cell counts were 54. The doctor made him aware that there was a good hunch that it’s leukemia. They immediately transferred him by ambulance to Westchester Medical. After being admitted to westchester medical. The oncology team the following day preformed a bone marrow biopsy that confirmed it was Chronic Myeloid Leukemia.
The previous 6+ months he lost more than 60+ lbs, extreme fatigue, stomach pain, nausea. The man that would light up the room and make you laugh wasn’t the same. We knew something was wrong we never thought CML of all scenarios! If you aren’t familiar with what CML it’s the type of cancer that starts in certain blood forming cells of the bone marrow. It’s a mutation of the white blood cells that tell each other to keep dividing. The chemo medication Robert is taking (Sprycel) will target the mutated white cells and keep the good white cells. CML is a blood disease that occurs spontaneously, doctors aren’t sure what causes the mutation.
Although this medication has been working for Robert the insurance company will not cover his chemo medication. Since he’s started treatment with chemo medications and though certain numbers are getting better and he’s getting better, he does have a long road in front of him. So I am starting this go fund me to help with whatever Robert and his family needs help with. His partner is working full time and family members are helping as much as they can with the children. This GoFund me will be for any medical bills, treatments, doctor visits, groceries, necessities for the kids. Everyone knows that Robert is the toughest as they come and he still is. Please help us help him focus and worrying about him self instead of being the backbone and rock.
A very BIG THANK YOU to EVERYONE who has and is lifting him up in prayer, wishing him all the best, reminding him to stay in faith, reaching out to help with the kids, making dinners for the family. They appreciate all of you!!!
We gonna fight this til the end
