Rob Gunter's Memorial Sports Fund for Youth

For the past year Paul has worked for Trinity Farm, a hunter-jumper facility in Lakeland, TN, with Rob Gunter. Rob had been battling stage 4 cancer and volunteering at the farm. His daughter, Poppy Gunter Doyle along with her husband Jason, own the farm. Rob had been in the ICU for the past several weeks and passed away the afternoon of June 4th, 2021. During this difficult time it has been natural to reflect on Rob's life during which he has been affectionately called "Coach" for his years of training others to play tennis and soccer, and he has been a devoted horse-show Dad. He believed that sports are a critical part of childhood and that sports should be available to all regardless of socioeconomic status. Rob has been a constant presence for many people during his lifetime, and his positive and helpful attitude has been ingrained in many of us. Over the past year, Paul has come to know Rob and his big heart and helping hand. This past weekend Paul went to visit Rob in the hospital. After his visit he also helped to get dinner to Poppy and Jason and their family members who are in town to be close to family during this trying time. After Paul's visit he received a payment on Venmo for his help this weekend. Paul insisted it was all just an act of service. Paul has decided to start a fund under Rob's name that will be used for the future generations of young children to engage in youth sports including tennis, soccer, and equestrian activities. To honor Rob, we are working with the ECHO Foundation to continue his legacy. The primary mission of ECHO is to make positive experiences with horses accessible to children and adults that would be otherwise not possible. In keeping with this mission, all of the funds raised will be used to make it possible for children who are interested in tennis, soccer, and riding horses to participate in these sports. All donations are tax deductible to the full extent of the law and will go to support young athletes with financial need. Thank you for your support!
