Hi there, My name is Tee Ketu , my team and i are reaching out to you on behalf of Mareeba Animal Refuge, a vital organization that has been serving our Tablelands community for 16 years. Unfortunately, they are currently facing significant financial challenges that threaten their ability to continue their essential work. Unless we take action, they will be forced to close their doors early next year.

We are reaching out to local businesses like yours, asking for support in the form of vouchers, prizes, or donations to be used at the Cairns Concert Fundraiser in November and the Mareeba Concert Fundraiser in December. Your generosity can play a pivotal role in ensuring the survival of this vital community resource.

Please refer to the attached document created by Tee Ketu, the event organiser, for more information and how you can help Mareeba Animal Refuge during this difficult time. Your support, big or small, will make a significant difference. The ripple effect of such a closure could be devastating for our community. It is imperative that we come together, regardless of the size of our contributions, to prevent this crisis from occurring.

Some of the consequences of their closure would include:

- The discontinuation of their crucial desexing program, which offers affordable rates to the community, leading to potential overpopulation issues.

- The cessation of the Mareeba Community Centre's work experience program within the shelter, which provides valuable opportunities for skill development.

- The discontinuation of the Correctional Services community hours program, which aids in rehabilitation and community service efforts.

- The termination of animal therapy sessions and regular visits from disability workers and clients, which have been a source of comfort and connection for many.

Tragically, without intervention, all animals currently residing in the shelter would face euthanasia.
