My name is Maria Esther Yavari Rivero. I want to tell you about my mom, Leda Yavari. During and after her career as a schoolteacher, my mom has given tirelessly to her community. She is a very caring woman.
My 86-year-old mom leads a group of women volunteers. This group enjoys the respect and recognition of the people my hometown of San Matías in Bolivia. My mother is someone who does what she can with as little or as much as she has.
She is someone who builds, someone who helps, someone who inspires. When there are problems, she organizes raffles and fundraisers. She and her group collect clothes or medicine. When someone is in need of help, gets sick or dies, she is reaching out within her community with her group of altruistic companions.
Her work is tireless.
Now is a time when more help is needed. San Matias is going through the worst season of strong fires. There are so many people affected that government aid is not enough. There are communities in the most remote areas that have lost practically everything.
Right now, they need even the most basic things, sheets, towels, dishes, cookware, clothing. They need the things for daily life.
My mother and her wonderful team want to help their community and today they need help. They need our help, so they can continue to aid others in need.
A little goes a long way in Bolivia. Your contribution, no matter the value, will help. Every dollar counts.
My mom, her team, the many people who will benefit and I thank you!!!
