Mi chiamo Alessandra, ho 60 anni, e questa è la mia storia. Nel 2003 con la mia famiglia e un gruppo di amici abbiamo lasciato la grande città per trasferirci a Castiglioncello, un minuscolo paesino di campagna, situato nel nord della Toscana, in Lunigiana. Il nostro progetto era quello di ristrutturare un antico casale per viverci insieme, unendo i nostri sforzi per costruire una comunità basata sui valori di una vita più semplice e sana, riconnettendoci con la natura, aiutandoci a vicenda e crescendo come individui. Le difficoltà, legate soprattutto alla scarsa economia del territorio, han fatto si che ad uno ad uno i nostri amici siano ripartiti. Nel 2013 un terremoto devastante ha danneggiato il casale ed ha allontanato ancora più persone, lasciando Castiglioncello con pochissimi abitanti, la maggior parte dei quali molto anziani. Tuttavia il nostro sogno di ristrutturare il casale non è andato distrutto e con la mia famiglia stiamo raccogliendo fondi per questa ristrutturazione che rappresenta, non solo la possibilità di ripopolare e dare nuovo valore a questo borgo, ma anche di creare un'opportunità solida e alternativa per le generazioni a venire.

Hello everyone, My name is Alessandra, I'm 58, and this is my story. In 2003 my family along with a group of friends decided to transform our lives completely. We left the big city of Turin to move to Castiglioncello, a tiny countryside village, located in the North of Tuscany, Lunigiana. Our project was to renovate the ancient Malaspina's castle and to live there together, sharing our home and merging our effort to build a community based on new values. We wanted to lead a simpler and healthier life, reconnecting with nature, helping each other, and growing as individuals. Unfortunately we faced many difficulties, mostly due to the poor economy of this remote paradise, and one by one our friends left but my family and I remained in Castiglioncello. This beautiful village, with dream-like landscape, overlooking the Apuan Alps, is part of the Apuan Alps Regional Park where you can still find unspoiled nature. In 2013 a devastating earthquake drove away even more people, leaving Castiglioncello with very few inhabitants most of which very elderly. Nonetheless our dream of renovating the castle was not shaken, if anything my family and I were even more determined to make it come true! The funds raised will be used to renovate the ancient historical castle. The dream to renovate the castle represents not only the possibility of repopulating and giving new value to this place but also to create a solid, alternative opportunity of a different lifestyle for the generations to come. We believe in a slower and more conscious type of turims that could, thanks to this structure, also create a few workplace for the young local people who won't be forced to sever their roots and move to the city to work and live.
