The program I'm doing in Beijing is called ACC and is under Hamilton College. The program provides intensive Mandarin studies for its students, as well as provides a great immersion portion. Students are required to speak Chinese with all their American classmates and they're encouraged to go out and explore Beijing.
My studies in Chinese have taken me everywhere and as a Mexican-American who speaks Chinese, I'm just as rare as California's surplus water rations.
This will be my 7th year studying Chinese and I plan to make some major leaps and bounds in Beijing 2014. This whole program is part of my Chinese Major and Linguistics minor at Georgetown University. At Georgetown, I'm also a recipient of the prestigious 1789 Scholarships, that supports many first generation college students like myself. While the scholarship helps pay for the majority of my schooling, it doesn't cover some of the extra expenses while abroad.
So I ask you, please support me as I go abroad. My mother's shoulders will thank you dearly. Help make my trip and experience all the better by donating to my semester in Beijing.
