On Thursday Oct. 27th Rick woke up and noticed the left side of his face was drooping and his speech slightly slurred.

Because he had been recently diagnosed with rheumatoid arthritis Rick figured it was just something to do with that.

After some convincing from his wife Mahaley, Rick went to the hospital.

A CT scan determined he had some bleeding in his brain and he was then transferred to another hospital.

Within an hour of arriving to the next hospital the bleeding had increased significantly and he was no longer able to move his left side.

Rick was rushed in to surgery to stop the bleeding. Surgery went well. The bleeding was stopped and the pooled blood was removed.
 
It has been determined that Rick suffered a stroke due to a brain bleed. In a 35 year old man this is pretty unheard of.

 Rick is currently in the ICU. He will be there until he is stable and able to start in-patient physically therapy. It is anticipated that he will be in the hospital for at least a month, but really we have no idea how long recovery might take.

It is unknown when and if Rick will be able to return to his current job. His wife Mahaley is currently out on maternity leave.

Rick and Mahaley have a 3 year old daughter and a 5 week old baby.
