Rick's Road to Recovery

On Friday, October the 13th, our biggest fears came true. There is comfort in someone saying "I'm on my way home",  something safe about knowing the person you love will be home soon, and sheer fear and panic when that doesn't happen.

On Friday the 13th, Rick was on his way home, just like any other day. The only difference was that he never made it home. He was in a terrible car accident, and rushed to Jackson South Community Hospital, where he has been ever since. Upon arrival, he was unconsious, and was given several blood transfusions to resuscitate him as well as emergency surgery. He has suffered broken ribs, fractured pelvis and tailbone,  collapsed lung, as well as injuries to his bladder and urethra, just to name a few. Rick has undergone surgery to stop internal bleeding, and pelvis surgery, and will need a few more surgeries in the upcoming months to repair more of what was damaged during the accident.

We are still not certain as to what happened, and we are still trying put all the pieces together. But what we do know is that hospital bills are inevitable. We are asking for help to raise money to cover the cost of his hospital bills  (16 days and counting), rehabilitation facility stay where he will learn to function with a wheel chair, as he cannot bear any weight on his legs for at least 3 months, and therapy and sureries once he is home.

Our family is completely overwhelmed with the outpouring of love and support we have been shown by family and friends. Rick is certainly one special guy, and it is evident with how many people have reached out to us since the life-changing accident that Friday the 13th.

This is going to be a long road to recovery. Rick will be out of work for quite some time (he can't even begin to walk for 3 months). He is the sole provider for the household, and it is only a matter of time before these hospital bills start rolling in. We are pulling together as a family, and would be forever grateful to anyone who could contribute to help ease or eliminate the burden of the inevitable hospital bills. From the bottom of our hearts, thank you.
