Update: I recently went and stayed at Duke University Hospital and I was diagnosed with non epileptic seizures. Now that we know what's happening, we are now on the road to trying to find the cause of them. We are really struggling and could really use your continued help is this difficult season of our lives. Thank you so much for the support thus far. Our family is grateful for the donations, shares and prayers.
Hi, my name is Norman, and my family is asking for help.
This fundraiser exists because a serious and ongoing medical crisis has left us without stable income, and we are struggling to keep our home and meet basic needs while we wait for answers and disability support.
Over the past year and a half, my life and my family’s life have been completely turned upside down by a neurological illness. I’ve been diagnosed with Meniere’s Disease, chronic vestibular migraines, and doctors are now investigating possible seizures. I also have Dupuytren’s Contracture in my hands and feet, but surgery has been put on hold until doctors can determine why I am losing consciousness.
I’ve lost nearly 80% of my hearing and live with constant ringing in my ears. I pass out almost every day. Sometimes it’s only seconds, other times it lasts for hours, once as long as two hours and forty minutes. I’ve undergone extensive testing, repeated CT scans, and multiple hospital stays, yet we still don’t have clear answers.
Because of how unpredictable and dangerous these episodes are, I can no longer work or drive. I’ve suffered serious falls and injuries and employers understandably hesitate to hire someone who may lose consciousness at any moment. I’ve applied for disability, but we’ve been told the process can take two years or longer.
While I am unable to work, my wife is working multiple jobs and doing everything she possibly can to keep our family afloat. Even with her working, we are still falling behind. The cost of simply keeping a roof over our heads has become overwhelming.
My kids have become painfully aware of my condition. Every noise makes them run, afraid I’ve passed out again. They are incredibly brave, but no child should have to live with that kind of fear. The weight of not being able to provide stability or safety for my family is something I carry every day.
Asking for help was not an easy decision, but we have reached a point where we cannot do this alone.
Funds raised through this fundraiser will be used directly to help our family remain housed and meet basic needs, including:
• Monthly home payments to keep our family in our home
• Utilities necessary to maintain a safe living environment
• Food and household essentials for our children
• Transportation costs, including car payments, fuel and basic upkeep.
• Ongoing medical-related expenses as we continue seeking answers
This fundraiser is truly a lifeline for our family while we wait for disability approval and medical clarity.
If you’re able to give, your support would mean more than we can express. If you’re not able to donate, sharing this or offering a prayer is just as meaningful. Every act of kindness helps us hold on and keep moving forward.
Thank you for taking the time to read our story and for standing with us during this incredibly difficult season. We are so thankful for your consideration in supporting us at this difficult time.
