Our dear loved one Rhonda Jackman, some of you know her as Rhondala, needs your prayers to hold her up as she fights for her life. On January 23rd, after her cries went unheard, Rhonda sought help only to suffer an intense seizure resulting in a severe laceration of her tongue which required 8 stitches in hopes of healing. A very short time later, less than an hour, she suffered another seizure that led to cardiac arrest, that resulted in Anoxiemia injury to her brain due to lack of oxygen more than three minutes.
The doctors at the hospital were ready to pull the plug, and orchestrated a family consultation. If you know Rhonda you know she wasn't going out like that. The morning of the consult, Rhonda was able track movement around the room with her eyes, and give a thumbs up.
On Friday February 3rd, Rhonda underwent surgery to have tracheostomy performed where a breathing/ventilator tube was inserted into her throat, and a peg tube/feeding tube was inserted. Every day there has been mini improvements and progress. This little lady is fighting.
Rhonda is in Denver, Colorado without any family. She does have one friend her Lynette here, along with her family. Her father Roland has flown in from St. Petersburg Florida, and cousin Felecia is in from Los Angeles. Her mother, Wendy has her own health challenges and is unable to travel from New Jersey at this time. Rhonda is an only child, and the family is devastated, overwhelmed and extremely challenged with the distance between.
We are prayerful that within the next day or two to be able to move Rhonda to an Acute Rehab facility in the Denver area where she will begin her long rehab process. We are told her rehab may take several months to a year, and then she will most likely need long term care. This whole scenario is one of life's curve balls wished on no one.
And as life has it, there are many expenses medical and life, that need to be handled immediately. We ask that you may find somewhere in your spirit to please help us. Whether you can donate $5, $100 or $1000 no amount is too small. This fund will go to offset Rhonda's personal expenses that need to be resolved (rent, storage fees, utilities, Boston storage, etc.) and will be closed as soon as possible, as well as travel fees for her mother, father, and cousin to visit her as often as possible to make sure she is getting the best care possible. Cousin Felecia is managing this campaign, and will distribute funds as expeditiously for any, and all immediate expenses.
We are moving quickly to get the medicaid disability status in place but this is a bureaucratic pitfall... Again, we ask for your financial help and know that every cent will be greatly, greatly appreciated. Also, an Angel donor has expressed they will match our goal if met. Please help us reach this goal. We will post updates as for Rhonda's progress often so that you all will know how much your support is felt. Remember her smile, her laughter, and the girl that always wanted to hang:)
Thumbs up, and one day at a time down this long road to recovery. God didn't bring you home yet, obviously other plans are in store for you Rhonda.
