Since first learning about it over a decade ago, I've wished to attend the Salt Institute for Documentary Studies at the Maine College of Art & Design to hone my producer chops in audio and podcasting. Salt is a program with a 50+ year history that has seen many names in radio and podcasting walk through its doors, which is why I'm so excited to share that I've been accepted and will count myself among them come fall!
My audio work has looked like: composing original music and sound design for podcasts and stage performance; voice acting for erotica, sci-fi, sleepcast (this diaphragm has range, hunny!); audio editing and mixing; field recording, and so on. And now I have the opportunity for dedicated and directed time to learn how to shape my own concepts into produced documentary stories.
After a tough few years I have been waiting for a win.
Salt feels like that win.
There were some hiccups--nay, bottom belly heaves-- on the path to get here, and I was fortunate to receive a scholarship, which is really doing the heavy art-school-tuiton lifting, but there are many expenses it won't cover. To make this happen I am reaching out to all in my community and extended community. Be the vortex that helps launch me into RSS orbit!
