Our beautiful baby girl Reya Shay Gomez was born August 16, 2016. We were so happy to learn she was a girl and we looked forward to our daughter Kira being a big sister and Reya wearing all her cute clothes. Our happiness turned to confusion when she was born without a sound and to concern when the doctors moved her via helicopter to Children's Hospital in Madera. At first the complications seemed minor and fixable and we were hopeful and planning her arrival home. Sadly this was not in the cards for any of us. Reya began having death spells and the doctors suggested a tracheostemy to alieve her breathing. Sadly it didn't work. Soon they tried putting in a longer one but discovered her breathing problems were much much more dire than anyone had initially anticipated. The cartilage in her pipes didn't develop very well at all and in a meeting several doctors and others told us the heartbreaking and life shattering news, her respiratory system was not compatible with living. Imagine those words after only a month of love and hope  it all to be enough come screeching to a hault with a few words. She went to rest October 1st.
