On January 3rd 2015 my dad went in for an MRI and got the shock of his life. He was told that he has a large mass in his head and needs to go to the emergency room as soon as possible. Upon further testing in the hospital the doctors discovered there were actually two tumors in his head, one larger than the size of an egg. This mass was pushing on his brain and causing severe pain, weakness and immobility on the right side of his body. He had been suffering for months with these symptoms until he found a doctor that cared enough to take him seriously, this was the doctor that ordered the MRI. The tests also showed that he has stage four lung cancer and that’s where the tumors in the brain came from. The oncologist says that someone with his condition with live on average about one year. Of course we are shooting for five or ten years instead! On January 12th 2015 he underwent brain surgery to remove the largest mass in his head and relieve him of the awful syptoms he had been living with for so long. With 29 staples in his head he is now recovering at home and getting ready to start chemo therapy and radiation. I am asking for some help for my dad right now because he deserves it, it’s the worst thing in the world to want to make everything better and not be able to. He is the strongest most caring person I know, he would do anything for anyone and often has through the years. He never puts himself first but instead takes care of everyone around him. It is his turn to be taken care of now, I want him to know that things are going to be okay in any sense that they can be. I feel that someone fighting for their life should not carry the extra stress of worrying about the financial burden of no longer being able to work. I want to give my dad the peace of mind he deserves after working his entire life to provide for everyone else, he shouldn’t be thinking about rent and bills or medical expenses that are not covered, prescription costs and copays. If I could take of these burdens myself believe me I would, unfortunately I am not in a position to do so right now. He needs to be able to focus all of his energy on staying as healthy as possible and preparing for his upcoming treatments.

My dad is the kind of man that never asks for anything from anyone because he doesn't want to burden anyone. He is always the first one to offer his help to anyone who needs it wheather it be family, friends, neighbors or complete strangers. He would never do this for himself  but I can promise you he would be the first one to donate for someone going through what he is. One of the things that my Dad lost through all of this was his vehicle. He has worked his whole life and always had a company truck. When he was no longer able to work he had to return his truck. This had been hard on him, he is confined to the house a lot of the time. He is always welcome to take my car but I am not always home as I do work when I can. He has lost enough already so lets try to make this tough journey a little easier and help him out with some of the bills and neccessities he can not afford on his own. For anyone lucky enough to know him, you know he deserves the all the love and support in the world! So help me show him just how much love and support is out there for him.

Thank you!
