Unfortunately, as we all know many of the players took a knee during the National Anthem and some did not even come out of the locker room. As a family, we were appalled by this and was further saddened to watch the NFL and owners do nothing and in some cases encourage disrespecting our Flag and National Anthem. We decided that we COULD NOT SUPPORT the NFL while allowing such blantant disrepect for our Nation and the Men and Woman who have fought for this country many who have life long injuries or have died while serving and protecting us. We come from immigrant families growing up on the East Coast with both of our Fathers and Grandfathers serving during Wartime. We were taught and still hold true to respect the Flag and the freedom and opportunites that it represents.
Many argue that is the players right to take a knee but how about the soldier who lost a knee or both legs or even all of their limbs. When we stand up and put on hand on our heart during the Anthem it is to honor those veterans. It is not the place or time for protest or politcal opinions. If the players feel so strongly about how they feel then they can organize community meetings, forums, or even peaceful protests. Spend their free time and funds to help the communities that need it. Anything, anytime or place, just not at National Anthem time.
We are not saying that there is not more as a country we can do for social injustices but we are never going to be able to fix this divided. If we cannot not at least all stand as one nation than I am afraid the division is only going to make things worse.
We felt so strongly about this as a family that we decided to take out a billboard with our own money costing thousands in LA saying "Shame on The NFL for disrepecting our Flag and Anthem" encouraging people to turn off the TV if they agree. We have had such an overwhelming response with hundreds of people all over the country including Veterans calling, messaging and emailing their Thanks for taking a stand. Many asked how can they contribute to the cause and suggesting we set up a Go Fund ME. So we did.
If you contribute we will use the money to help offset the cost of the Billboards or put up more billboards depending on the response we get. Any money not used for this reason will be donated to Veteran causes.
We Sincerely Thank You For Your Support!
God Bless America!
