Please consider making a donation to a family that has endured so much since the diagnosis of cancer was given to one of their own. Many healthcare related expenses have been brought upon this family. Countless visits to clinics, hospitals and care centers along with lost wages have taken a toll. And now Renae is living her final days at home where she is on hospice and requires round-the-clock care.

Bruce and Renae have always been very giving people. Outside of their regular work roles, Bruce and Renae have worked together in serving others in a variety of ways. This has included volunteering countless hours of community service through their church and their local Lions Club. Their children grew up watching and learning from their example of service and have participated alongside them as well.

Renae has always been a person with a strong work ethic. She has also been an optimistic person with a lightheartedness and fun sense of humor. She has been an engaging conversationalist and story teller too. These attributes have remained with her as she has endured through her diagnosis and treatments. She has brought joy to others and has shown us how to manage difficult times with grace and tenacity and also with faith and peace.

Bruce and Renae have raised their family well. As such, Renae's family has been present in caring for her and supporting her through her healthcare needs, allowing her to be at home with them. Bruce has taken on extra roles and responsibilities and has taken unpaid time away from work in order to be near to and care for the needs of Renae and their family. Throughout all of this, their children have demonstrated a maturity beyond their years and will no doubt carry on Renae's values as well as her legacy into the days to come.

Renae was diagnosed with colon cancer after a routine colonoscopy. She underwent treatments and major surgery and was cancer free for some months. However, the cancer reoccurred.

She and her family were told that it was inoperable and that she should go home and put her affairs in order; a statement that anyone would find difficult to hear.

Through significant persistence and perseverance, the family got a second opinion. They pursued alternative treatments at a clinic in Mexico along with surgery at the Mayo Clinic. She was again cancer free for a time.

Throughout this ordeal, Renae has kept her spirits bright and tolerated things well, only to find out that she now had a tumor on her brain. She bravely underwent surgery to remove the brain tumor, only to suffer a stroke, which complicated her recovery.  Sadly, the family was informed that the tumor could not be fully removed and that it will continue to grow, so they focused on restoring her strength.

Renae was able to be moved to a therapy care center closer to home. A few days later, COVID-19 struck and the family couldn’t visit her bedside, but found ways to visit through an exterior window of her room at the care center. She eventually made enough progress to be released to home.

Since being at home, Renae’s mother and then Bruce’s father passed away. They have experienced other losses during this time as well. One wonders how much more a family can endure.

Earlier fundraising efforts have had to be postponed due to the pandemic. And so, we are now reaching out in this way.

Please place this family in your prayers and consider making a donation and sharing this link with others.
