Missing Dave Harp - Until We Meet Again

With a heavy heart and in sadness I am writing to let everyone know that Dave has succumbed to his illness. He passed away with his son, David, by his side on 1/17/26. We all knew him an invincible. We will all remember him that way too.

Unfortunately his son, David, is still grappling to recover approximately $200,000 all the while grappling with his father’s untimely death. Let’s continue with this campaign as a way to remember Dave and support David.

Initial message to support Dave:
Our beloved partner, dad, brother, uncle, grandfather, and friend became gravely ill while vacationing in Puerto Vallarta. What began as a stomach illness rapidly escalated into a life‑threatening systemic infection known as sepsis. He required a breathing tube, powerful medications to keep his heart beating, and intensive, round‑the‑clock care.

The infection caused his kidneys to fail, leaving him dependent on frequent dialysis. As if that weren’t enough, he developed a severe blood clot in his left arm that required emergency surgery. Although the clot was removed, the lack of blood flow caused irreversible damage, and one of his fingers had to be amputated.

He has been in the ICU since December 2nd—every single day incurring out‑of‑pocket costs. When his condition suddenly worsened, his son David immediately flew to Mexico, called an ambulance, and has been by his side ever since. David has been paying every medical expense upfront, down to individual doses of medication—one antifungal dose alone costs $750.

Because Medicare does not cover care outside the United States, every intervention keeping him alive is being paid out of pocket. And now, the only safe way to bring him home is through a medical evacuation flight, which will cost more than $70,000.

Any contribution—large or small—will help relieve the immense financial burden on David, keep his father’s care moving forward, and get him home where he belongs.

Through all of this, he has shown the resilience and humor we love him for. Even while intubated, he managed to crack jokes on FaceTime and “give the finger” in good spirits—proof that his fighting spirit is still very much alive.

He is fighting with everything he has. We’re asking you to fight alongside him.

Thank you for helping us bring him home.
