Lybomi Wildlife is a Primate Rehabilitation Centre in Limpopo South Africa
There are currently 11 endangered Samango Monkeys undergoing rehabilitation that are ready to release!
Due to the extensive loss of their natural habitat, finding a suitable release site that ensures a safe environment for them is one of the biggest challenges we face… and for a long time it seemed impossible to ever release them.
However, we recently found out about a release site on a farm with the perfect habitat that has offered to give them a long-term home in freedom and the wilderness… For the first time, a release that seemed impossible is within reach!
To highlight just how significant this is:
There has never been a Samango release in the history of Lybomi and it will most likely be the first one ever done in the whole country!
This would be a historic milestone in the conservation of this endangered species – and a life-changing opportunity for the 11 Samangos currently under our care.
We are aware that it is incredibly short notice - the release would be in the last week of August 2025 - but we need to ask for your help to make this dream a reality. We need to build a temporary release enclosure, arrange transport, prepare suitable boxes, and gather other essential resources to ensure a smooth and safe release!
To support this we would like to ask you to please consider financially supporting this groundbreaking project.
Even a small donation will help us move one step closer to releasing these beautiful animals into their rightful home!
Thank you from the bottom of our hearts for being part of this journey – for supporting Lybomi Wildlife, and most of all, our amazing Samango monkeys!
