Rehema Daycare, School and Orphan Center
The Rehema Daycare, School and Orphan Center is a registered Community Based Organization in the Korogocho slum in Nairobi, Kenya. The organization is committed to supporting destitute children including orphans, street children, and the poor. Rehema provides daily meals, basic primary education, and vocational training to approximately 600 children from the local community using funds from income generating projects and donations. Approximately 50 of the children are orphans and live permanently at the Center.
In July, 2018 I had the privilege of visiting Rehema with a group of enthusiastic volunteers. The group organizer, Nancy, was instrumental in creating a library at the center in 2012 that is a source of pride and currently serves the school and the local community. As a dedicated advocate, Nancy has been bringing groups to volunteer and deliver much needed supplies annually.
It was heart warming to see the dedication of the pastor, school principal, teachers, and other staff and supporters. The love and care that they have given to this poor community is reflected in the children's beautiful smiles and enthusiasm for learning.
How Your Donation Can Help
Kenya provides education to children through 8th grade. Donations will be used to fund high school scholarships for children completing 8th grade at Rehema School who would otherwise not be able to attend high school.
I am excited that we were able to raise enough money this year to fund scholarships for 7 of the children who will complete 8th grade in December, 2018. However, approximately 25 children completing 8th grade this year are currently unfunded. The total cost per child each year is $500 ($2,000 for 4 years of high school).
Please consider a tax deductible donation to give these children an opportunity to get the education needed to improve their prospects!
