Help with Reggie's Funeral

Donation protected
At 7:10pm on Feb. 2nd, 2024 Reggie gained his golden wings. Heaven gained one of the most beautiful souls to ever walk this earth. There is a huge hole in the world now that he is no longer with us. Anyone who knows Reggie can tell you how genuine he was. One conversation with Reggie could change your life, even if in just a small way. Our family would love to give him the celebration of life he truly deserves. If you feel moved to donate, we would be so grateful.

For those who have already donated, we are eternally thankful to you. Your donations have made it possible for us to stay in Erie and be by Reggie's side through his hospitalization and to the end. If Reggie was here he would be able to tell us something about everyone of you and how much he loves you. We love you too so much! Go touch the Sun Superman, we love you more than words could ever say!

-The Jordan Family

Meet Reggie Jordan! He is a 54 year old man who is loved by all who know him. Reggie is the family man that's the loudest fan at events, who gets on the floor to play with the grandkids, who picks up his wife to keep her going, her soulmate. Reggie is the friend that's there through thick and thin, who gives the best advice and reminds everyone just how special they are. He’s the kind of special person you only meet once in a lifetime.

Reggie has suffered and overcome many medical issues in his life including end stage renal failure, diverticulitis, blood tranfusions, pneumonia, covid, adult onset diabetes, the list goes on and on. Then in February 2023 Reggie suffered a major stroke that caused him to lose the use of his left side. Reggie was rehabbing to gain his ability to walk again and by September 30th 2023 Reggie was able to walk with a hemi-walker around his house.

Unfortunately on October 12th, he was rushed to the Hospital where he was found to have had a second major stroke, this time affecting his right side and taking his abaility to speak, swallow, and cough.

Over the next 5 days Reggie wss recovering but on October 17th, he began having convulsive seizures and began rapidly declining. By October 23rd, he was only able to open his eyes for a few seconds and doctors informed us that we would soon need to make a decision between quality of life and letting him go.

The doctors asked if we wanted them to perform life saving measures but told us we should call our loved ones to say goodbye. Reggie was transferred to the ICU and on the way down his O2 levels dropped, his blood pressure began to bottom out and he became completely unresponsive. Testing showed that he was in septic shock caused by pneumonia.

By the grace of God, Reggie opened his eyes again two days later on October 25th and on October 28th he was extubated, however he was unable to regulate his breathing and a tracheostomy was done on November 9th, and a feeding tube inserted into his stomach on November 17th.

Reggie was moved moved from the Hospital in Buffalo to a critical illness recovery hospital in PA on December 7th. This hospital provides PT, OT, and speech therapies 5x a week and specializes in getting people off the ventilator.

Unfortunately on December 12th his transplanted kidney started to fail and Reggie was transferred to St. Vincents Hospital where he has begun dialysis. He will be sent back to the specialty hospital as soon as his blood pressure and heart are stable nough to move him back and he will be there until he is off the vent and can hopefully return home. He has a very long road to recovery ahead of him, but he is fighting every day.

With all of this we will need to prepare for the daily challenges Reggie will now face. In addition since he is out of state, his insurance is limited to a number of days of care. After that we will be paying out of pocket until he can get back to New York.

And to prepare for Reggie's return home, we will need some items to help with his day to day. Things like an electronic lift to get him from his bed/chair to his wheelchair, a ramp to get in and out of our home, modifications to our bathtub, a lift and chair to get him in and out of the shower, as well as a wheelchair accessible vehicle to get him to and from appointments. Reggie will have 24 hour care and his family is ready to help him through this journey.

We kindly ask those who would like to support Reggie and his family, to please please share his story with friends, family, and your own social networks!

For those who would like to donate to his fund, no amount is too small and will be greatly appreciated! Prayer and well-wishes are also always appreciated! Your thoughts, prayers, and positive energy mean so much to us all and have helped him greatly thus far!

We sincerely thank everyone who supports Reggie and his family in ALL ways, nothing goes unnoticed, and though Reggie is unable to express his gratitude, we know he is incredibly grateful to have so many people by his side! Thank you for taking the time to read our story.
