Hearing news from Afghanistan has been heartbreaking. We are HOME - think of all we have and the safety of being surrounded by family, friends and community. It is hard to imagine where refugees find strength in the profound disruption of their lives. They now find themselves in a foreign land, in a foreign culture and with a foreign language.
We’ve been meaning to research ways to get involved but then days kept passing by. Then we heard from Musa. Musa is a dear friend originally from Afghanistan, who has been working tirelessly to help refugee families as they arrive here in the US. There is a large community of refugees building in West Sacramento and other parts of Northern California. Musa and others have been collecting clothes, food and money but he is now asking his US community for help. He describes newly arrived families with 10 or more children, women needing feminine products, the need for winter clothes, and money for food. Musa is personally helping to fund these families but he needs our help! Let’s help friends from our global community call California their new HOME.
