Rebuild Hope in Haddo: Supporting The Crown & Its Community

Donation protected
When Hurricane Melissa tore through Jamaica, the eye of the storm passed directly over the small rural village of Haddo, where The Crown sits perched in the hills of Westmoreland Parish.

In a matter of hours, roofs were ripped off homes, coconut and palm trees uprooted, and roads completely destroyed. Power, communication, and access vanished — leaving communities like Haddo isolated and struggling to survive.

The Crown — a small, family-built guesthouse — was heavily damaged in the storm. Its founder, Jahbi, was on the property when the hurricane hit.
The last message his wife, Patricia, received from him was that the roof had been torn away… and then the call went dead.

For days, no one could reach him.

Through the kindness and determination of a few locals, word finally reached us: Jahbi is alive. He is in good health and has begun the long, difficult process of cleaning up and rebuilding — not just for himself, but for the people of Haddo.

For the past 15 years, Jahbi and Patricia have poured their hearts, savings, and every ounce of their energy into creating The Crown — a place that was never meant to be exclusive or commercialized, but communal.

They dreamed of restoring Haddo to what it once was:
A thriving village filled with music, small businesses, hospitality, and life.

The Crown became a catalyst for that dream.
It created jobs, inspired local enterprise, and invited travelers from around the world to experience the real Jamaica — the heart of the island, not just the tourist brochures.

The nearby restaurant, Les Q’s (owned by Jahbi’s cousins), the fruit stands, the drivers, the farmers — everyone benefitted from the quiet revival that The Crown brought to Haddo.

Now, that momentum has been shattered.

This fundraiser is about more than rebuilding one property.
It’s about helping Jahbi, Patricia, and the community of Haddo rebuild together.

Our immediate priorities:

-Provide fuel, food, and clean water to support families in and around Haddo.

-Help rebuild The Crown so it can once again serve as a community anchor and source of local employment.

-Assist in restoring roads, tools, and local supply connections needed to restart work and daily life.

-Support neighboring families whose homes and gardens were destroyed.

Every dollar raised will go directly toward helping this small but mighty community recover — empowering locals to sustain themselves again through tourism, farming, and creative entrepreneurship.

Jamaica is known for its strength — but rural villages like Haddo often receive little to no outside aid.
When disasters strike, it’s the locals who help each other first.

That’s exactly what’s happening now.

Neighbors are clearing roads, sharing food, and doing whatever they can to survive.
With your help, we can fuel that resilience — and bring light, hope, and economic life back to this community.
