As many of you know, our beloved son/brother/uncle/friend, Michael La Marca, tragically passed away on October 3rd while hiking the Peralta Trailhead in Arizona’s Tonto National Forest in preparation for a rim-to-rim Grand Canyon hike. Michael was an amazing person who always pushed himself and the people around him to live life to the fullest and do it with a big smile on your face.

To honor Michael's legacy, we have started the Real Decent Foundation. As some of you know, Michael used this slogan often to describe his mood, the outcome of a sporting event or asking how you were doing. Mike was always Real Decent and we thought this is a great slogan for the Real Decent things we plan to do with funds raised. 

Michael was an extremely smart and dedicated person who excelled in math and sciences which would fuel his passion and pursuit of a career in Solar Energy. During his post graduate studies, he has the opportunity to work with a research team in the Netherlands where he developed a love for cycling. Michael participated in several charity cycling events including the MS 150 ride from Houston to Austin, and the 1Mission Bikes Fight Poverty ride from Phoenix to Puerto Penasco, Mexico.

This year we will be holding an annual charity bike ride to raise funds for the Solar Foundation.  The Solar Foundation is a nonprofit, nonpartisan organization dedicated to advancing the use of solar and solar-compatible technologies worldwide. We believe that increasing access to this clean, abundant, reliable, and affordable energy source will lift up people’s lives and bring about a prosperous future for all.

This year’s event will take place on Sunday, August 8 in Lebanon, NJ. since as many of you know 8/8 was Michael’s favorite day of the year. If you cannot attend the event in person, we would love for you to participate by riding wherever in the world you may be and thinking of Michael and helping us raise funds in his honor for an amazing organization. 

Just hop on a bike of any kind, blast some Guns N' Roses on your headphones/portable speaker, and go for a fun bike ride!  Be sure to post a pic or video of you on your bike either in the Go Fund Me comments or on the Real Decent Foundation Instagram page at @RealDecentFoundation letting us know you rode for Michael and donated to the Solar Foundation on his behalf.
