My name is Lisa, I initiated this fundraiser on behalf of my very dear friend Rayna who I’ve known since we were 5. Her parents Sharon and Eddie are doing everything in their power to keep Rayna comfortable, however up until today the one thing they haven’t been able to get for her is her daughter Isis. By the grace of God and many prayers, Isis and Rayna were reunited for a visit today.
Rayna has been fighting Brain cancer for almost 9 years, having many surgeries and treatments…..with many setbacks for her and her family. Her husband Josh, Isis’s dad, died tragically 2 years ago. Rayna and Isis struggled with their loss, and Rayna continued to fight her battle against cancer without her partner. In the interim Rayna’s in-laws obtained temporary custody of Isis by misrepresenting facts to the North Carolina Family Court System. Having temporary custody, they have kept Isis from her mother since September. Recently, Rayna, suffering with pain and weak, was accompanied by her mother to appear for a custody hearing. She fell when she arrived and was taken by ambulance to the hospital, the case postponed until December. However, time is running out for Rayna, and the need to obtain a lawyer to expedite this matter is crucial. Unfortunately, any funds raised will not only be needed for representation, but to find a final resting place for Rayna.
This past weekend we went to visit Rayna and we were able to talk about our childhood memories, of sleepovers and fun stuff. Rayna is such a strong, beautiful woman. She didn’t talk of dying. She only said, “I need to see Isis again, I need to put my arms around her.” As a mother I know that if I were Rayna, I would also want to tell my only child how much she was loved, spend every available moment with her, sharing my happy memories with her before I passed.
Rayna is declining. Giving her lots of love and keeping her peaceful and comfortable is the goal. She is now on oxygen and her family is at her side to meet her every need. This weekend, my sister, my husband, and our children are going to see Rayna and prepare a Thanksgiving Feast for her. When I asked her what her Thanksgiving food wish was, she said, “I want S’mores, I’ve never had them!” A simple request that I am Thankful to have the opportunity to give her.
Please help Rayna, and Isis. The love and support that you give both emotionally and financially will be not only greatly appreciated but needed. My heart breaks for this family, for Rayna and Isis. Please share this site with all of your friends, and ask them to share with their friends. On behalf of my dear friend Rayna, Thank you!
