Ray Zander is a 93 year old WW II Navy veteran who has recently been diagnosed with metastatic cancer. Ray has spent his life in service to the Lord as an evangelist who has traveled the world preaching the good news. He has lived solely by faith on God's grace and provision, blessed by all those that know and love him all these years. Nothing has changed one bit on this. He lives alone in Palm Beach Gardens, FL and has very limited resources otherwise. Though a veteran, the VA is not able to provide in home care other than a few times a week for nursing checks and bathing care, and Hospice the same until he becomes more critical and closer to dying. This could be weeks or could be months. After learning of his recent diagnosis, Ray opted for Hospice over treatments that could not be curative.
At age 80, Ray started writing poetry. So far, he has published 11 books (I am corrected) and he freely gives them away as he meets people to tell them about Jesus. He has remained an active minister of the gospel up to now. While he has often said he looks forward to going HOME to see his Lord and Savior, now that event has been given a more clear though not definite timeline. Would you join us to take up a collection to help pay for in home care to fill in the gaps where family and friends are unable to provide enough for what he needs. This would allow him to stay in his home and not have to be put in a nursing home that would take him with no Medicare and no insurance. It is soley our purpose to give Ray the best care possible where he wants to be, at home. This fund raising for those expenses are not his idea nor is he asking for money. Ray never has and never will. For those who love him dearly and want to be God's hands to provide for his needs, this site has been set up to allow any who wish to help a means to do so. Anyone is also free to send him a check personally but at this time, Ray's condition is to the point he cannot even sign his name. I am sure there are other aveneues to donate directly to Ray. This is just one and has been done with the utmost respect and love for this man I have known for many years. All proceeds remaining at the time of Ray's death will be utilized for funeral expenses and any excess will be donated to the Non-Profit Dunklin Memorial Camp on his behalf for a scholarship fund in his name (www.dunklin.org). This was chosen only because Ray has been an integeral part of the life and ministry at Dunklin and a very close friend of my father's for many years . This is the place Ray has requested to be buried at. If God leads you to donate in any other way for Ray, please follow that leading in your spirit. An accounting of all donations will gladly be made available at request.
Ray's favorite verse: Proverbs 3:5-6
Trust in the Lord with all your heart,
And lean not on your own understanding;
In all your ways acknowledge Him,
And He shall direct[a] your paths.
