Initiative: To open a coffee house in the heart of Mombasa, Kenya, creating a platform for youth and change.
For years, we have worked with people in the streets, who had fallen through the cracks of Mombasa City. In 2007, we opened a small house that is home to a beautiful family from the streets; we call ourselves the Rapha Family. We have watched God transform our home from hopeless kids and broken addicts to aspiring students at the tops of their classes, athletes, and successful dreamers. Yet, there are many more young people with this same potential still at-risk all over our city.
Mombasa, a city of one million, is home to thousands of youth with no vision for their lives, many jobless and homeless, with negative alternatives at every corner.
We want to offer a positive alternative.
After much prayer and research, we believe we can open a coffee house with the focus to reach out to more young people in Mombasa. It will be self-sustainable and profit rearing business that will exist long term and be led by the youth themselves. With the profit we will be able to provide more education to students and create more opportunities for others.
Our plan is to raise the needed finances to purchase and run a café in the heart of the city. Through the café we will create jobs and offer job training to struggling young people. We will use the café as a location for counseling, connecting young people to positive outlets, and a place to grow. The café will showcase the talents of the youth through holding live music events, open mic-nights, and weekly events to keep youth active in a positive environment.
Help us empower the youth of Mombasa to be the change in this city and dream for more.
