Help Randy's Heart - Medical Fund
Donation protected
On Wednesday March 30, Randy began having chest pain and numbness in his foot. His wife, Rebecca, drove him to the emergency room, by the time they reached the hospital Randy was paralyzed from the waist down. Just a few hours later, in the early hours of the morning, Randy had emergency open heart surgery to repair a very serious, often fatal, condition known as an Aortic Dissection. His surgical team also found and repaired an aortic aneurysm and replaced his aortic valve, which was leaking.
Randy spent a day and a half in an induced coma, 4 days in Cardiac Intensive Care, and another 4 days in Cardiac Recovery before returning home.
Moving forward Randy will be facing several months of rehab to strengthen his heart, physical therapy to regain complete function in his left foot (which remains numb), and a lifetime of medication and monitoring. He currently is on a weight restriction, unable to drive, and unsure when he will be returning to work.
Randy and Rebecca have a 4 month old son named Michael. After taking parental leave for his birth they do not have any remaining time off, also due to Randy's weight restriction he is currently unable to help in the daily care of the baby. Funds raised will go to assist the Scofield family with mounting medical bills as well as ongoing expenses.
Thank you all so very much for the prayers and support that the family has received up to this point. Your generosity is a blessing and so very appreciated.
