Help Us Install a ramp for Mom's Safe Return Home
My 88-year-old mother recently had surgery and has been hospitalized for two weeks due to complications with a fistula placement that stole blood from her hand and caused nerve damage and loss of use in her left hand for dialysis and pain medications that caused confusion and a serious fall. She can no longer safely climb stairs, so we need to put a ramp outside the house for her to get inside, and we will put a hospital bed on the first floor and a commode.
We need to install a ramp on July 29, 2025 because her rehabilitation team at the rehab said she will be home by Wednesday to Friday next week. we cannot afford the cost on our own. I've been her full-time caregiver for years, and we live on a very limited income. Have no income because she’s in rehab and I can’t work as her caregiver plus I need to reinstate my disability benefits. Every contribution, no matter how small, will help us provide the safety and dignity she deserves in this fragile stage of life. If you're unable to donate, sharing this with others would mean the world. (My mom’s miserable right now at the rehab place and she’s at rehab to try to strengthen her muscles to walk and stand. They did a failed surgery on her arm and it was for a fistula for dialysis to get rid of the catheter in her chest. Her hand was ice cold and she lost use of it and there’s pain from nerve damage that’s always there now. We had a horrific two weeks. The pain medication made her hallucinating and confused and groggy and she fell on her head because she fell asleep fell off while sitting on its edge. Emergency room a week, then they admitted her a day and released her without testing if she could walk or stand. On the stairs at home , she couldn’t hold her body weight and collapsed and my son and I had to carry her up to second floor and she had to lay on floor, unable to breathe, and I called an ambulance.)
We have to get a ramp before we can get a stairlift. The ramp without a platform costs $3120 with monthly payments of $175.00
Thank you for helping us keep her safe.
