Rallying around Rebecca,

Hi everyone,

My name is Lilly, I’m Rebecca’s aunt. I’m writing on behalf of my brave and beautiful niece, who is currently in the hospital after being diagnosed with acute heart failure following a heart transplant that took place 13 years ago.

Her doctors have begun aggressive treatment in hopes of stabilizing her condition and slowing the damage being done to her heart. The future is uncertain, if the treatment works well, she could have approx five to seven more precious years ahead. But if it doesn’t, she may only have six months to a year left. It’s an impossible reality to face, yet she continues to meet it with as much optimism as she can.

This GoFundMe is to help cover the many costs that come with this journey, especially the travel, lodging, and living expenses that aren’t covered by assistance programs. Her mom will be traveling regularly between Pictou and Halifax to be by her side through treatments, tests, operations etc. Both of them will also need to take time off work during this period, and we don’t want financial stress to be an added factor during this.

Funds will go toward supporting them through treatment, and, if time turns out to be shorter, toward helping her make lasting memories with the people she loves most.

At just 28 years old, she has spent much of her life in and out of hospitals, yet she’s defied the odds time and time again. We’re holding onto hope that she’ll do it once more. Our family cannot thank you enough for every donation, prayer, and kind word, your support truly means the world.
