In March of 2015, Rafael began experiencing some unusual pain. Attributing that pain to a former illness, Rafael did not think much of it.

As the pain worsened beyond its norms, Rafael knew he needed to go to the hospital. Within hours of arriving to the Emergency Room, Rafael was told that he was suffering from colon cancer and needed to undergo major surgery which required a Total Colectomy and Proctectomy. This surgery was not enough and the Doctors informed Rafael that his Cancer is more advanced and will require Chemotherapy and radiation therapy as the Cancer is now in his lymph nodes.

Rafael owns his own lawn care business in Florida and will be unable to work during their busiest season as he recieves treatments over the next few months. He is the primary financial provider of his family
