In July 2020, Rafael Booker, a passionate and experienced teacher and aspiring administrator, was diagnosed with COVID-19. An extremely healthy and fit 32-year-old with no underlying conditions, he recovered fairly quickly. Suddenly in the beginning of September, however, he started to go downhill and it was discovered that, among pneumonia and sepsis, he had post-COVID heart failure. He’s now in the hospital on multiple medications for heart failure and doctors are hoping his heart will regain function on its own without having to resort to a heart transplant. A mild case of COVID-19 has changed his life forever, and now, he and his wife need our help. The medical expenses they have incurred are astronomical even with insurance, and Rafael is also not able to work for the foreseeable future. Times are tough for everyone right now, but even the smallest donation will go a long way in helping Rafael and his amazing wife Jessica during this challenging time.
