Help Ruby Bridges 5th Graders Go to Science Camp
This spring, 46 Ruby Bridges 5th graders are preparing for Science Camp—and our community is working together to make sure every one of them can go.
Our students will attend Science Camp at Camp Arroyo in Livermore, where they will spend several days hiking, exploring nature, and learning science in the outdoors. For many of our students, this will also be their first time staying overnight away from their families, making it an exciting and meaningful milestone.
The cost is $325 per student, which covers transportation, lodging, meals, and hands-on science activities.
Ruby Bridges Elementary, located in Alameda’s West End, is proud to be one of the most diverse schools in the district. As a Title I school, more than 67% of our students qualify for free or reduced lunch, and many families can only contribute part of the cost.
Thanks to teacher grants and community fundraising efforts—including Winter Craft Night, Gratitude Grams, Valentine’s Candy Grams, and our Spring Clean Out event—we have already raised much of the funding needed.
Our goal now is to raise $5,000 more to support scholarships and chaperones, ensuring that every student who wants to attend can participate. Any additional funds raised will go toward supporting next year’s Science Camp students.
Every donation—big or small—helps make this unforgettable experience possible.
If you’re able, please consider donating and sharing this page with friends and neighbors who believe in supporting students and their opportunities to learn and explore. Our procurement deadline is Mar 30, 2026.
