12/23/2019 - Today we got a phone call that Ryan has a recurrence of cancer. A terrible thing to hear especially during the holidays. Ryan was admitted to hospital December 27th. Not only does a small portion of his prior inoperable brain tumor remain but he now has a second more aggressive tumor in his cerebellum. He needs high dose ICE chemotherapy treatment for 6 months. He will get a stem cell transplant in February, multiple scans, blood transfusions & radiation treatment after the chemotherapy is complete. & He is going in with obstacles - he still has ETV shunt in his head, diplopia causing him to have poor vision in right eye& no depth perception, adrenal insufficiency, hypogonadism, orthostatic tachycardia and endocrine issues. As our wonderful community, friends, and family did last time in 2016 many have asked, " how can I help?" I will be unable to work as Ryan will need extra care & does not drive. So we are just hoping to cover gas & groceries & medical co-pays. Many know my dear sweet Ryan and realize how difficult this is, especially as he expected to be excelling in college. He got a y year accelerated Masters program scholarship to Stevens for civil engineering. Instead he will be in the hospital, his treatment is high intensity and he must be inpatient. Your support is much appreciated! Or donate blood through Red Cross or send prayers & encouragement to Ryan. No one fights alone, we are in this battle to survive. Thank you!
