Monday, June 8th my beautiful niece Elizza lost her baby, Emily Elaina at 39 weeks pregnant, with only one more week to her due date. On Sunday, June 7 Elizza had not felt her baby move. She became concerned and anxious about her baby and rushed to the hospital. When she arrived, the team of doctors and nurses verified with a fetal heart monitor and ultrasound that baby Emily had lost her heartbeat, and there was nothing they could do to save her. The cause was unknown until the next day when Elizza had to face the unbearable and painstaking process of giving birth to a baby who she knew was dead. When Emily was born and placed on Elizza's chest, she prayed with all her heart that sweet baby Emily would wake up. Her skin was blue, and her body remained motionless. Emily was gone.
Emily was delivered weighing 5 lbs. 13 oz. and 19 inches long. At the time of the birth the doctors determined the umbilical cord had wrapped around baby Emily's neck as she entered the birth canal the umbilical cord was crushed, suffocating sweet baby Emily in a matter of minutes. There was absolutely nothing anyone could do to save her.
Elizza spent the entire day saying goodbye to her beautiful baby Emily. The thought of leaving the hospital without her baby was too much. The empty feeling brought so many tears of pain, and sorrow. She hoped and prayed that her time with baby Emily would never end. Just before midnight Elizza said her final tearful goodbye and handed her sleeping angel to the nurse. Elizza left the hospital sad, broken and empty.
A few months prior to this tragedy, at 7 months pregnant Elizza’s husband decided that marriage was not what he wanted, and kicked her out of their home. She was sent to deal with the pregnancy and now this terrible tragedy as a single mother.
Elizza has faced far too much loss in the last few months for anyone to cope with.
She now faces an abundance of medical bills and funeral expenses that she cannot afford.
Elizza really needs all the help she can get. Please consider donating… Anything you can give, anything at all, would be so greatly appreciated!
Thank you so much for taking the time to read her story.
