Many of you have known me for many years, some less, and for some, we have yet to meet! Either way, it is my desire to make you part of this new and exciting journey!
For many of you, we have had the opportuntiy to work together on trips and projects serving villagers, sick, hungry, and orphans. A lot of you followed my travels and my work with great people; you have seen that I truly have a heart for people. For those whom I have not yet met, please know that God instilled in me a great passion for serving to his children in the country of Guatemala. Perhaps someday my work can expand beyond, even in to countries further away! I can think of no greater work than impacting eternity with the souls of these children whose government, towns, and sometimes even parents have overlooked.
My desire is to be able to continue to help those are in need. Together we can accomplish this. I am starting this Campaign with that purpose. I invite you to join me in this pursuit to serve the children of my country. We are actively pursuing legally establishing a non-profit organization both here in Guatemala as well as in the States. Becoming a legally established non-profit with a tax-exempt status in the States will give us the freedom to accept donations with a tax credit for the donor. A board of directors has been assembled, and co-directors have been identified to serve this organization: one in Guatemala, and one in the States.
Once the legalities are established, we will begin building the programs envisioned – the first being formalizing the feeding program that I already coordinate. From there the vision is to formalize medical and dental clinics serving the villagers. The long term dream includes an orphanage as well.
Would you consider helping to cover the cost of legal services to establish this non-profit? I am applying through Legal Zoom for a non-profit status as well as to become a 501(c)3 organization. Each legal status (non-profit, tax exempt) costs $495 a piece. I have established a Go Fund Me account if you would like to make a contribution. Unfortunately, due to the current lack of tax-exempt status, this donation would not be counted as a tax-deductible charitable gift. There are additional start up costs related to banking needs.
This is a one month only fundraising effort! In just four weeks, we will be reaching out to our support network to raise funds to cover our start-up costs to include legal fees and US banking. The campaign launches on January 15th and will run through February 15th.
As of February 9th, we will extend our campaign to February 28th.
