2025 Ride For Doug - I get by with a little help...
Donation protected
Last year, Ride For Doug raised money with the goal of moving to a place of more independence. Life did not go as planned, and Doug is still living at home and having caregivers come in and help him. After spending a very long time on a waitlist for some Occupational Therapy consults - the Penners are building a new plan to adapt his existing space. The funds raised last year and this year will go towards this project. Bathroom renos to make a shower accessible aren't cheap.
Duchenne Muscular Dystrophy is a progressive disorder. This means that as time passes, the patient loses more and more of their muscle function, and require more assistance and equipment.
The Penners are still in the process of getting quotes and plans from vendors and therapists. We will update you at the ride with where this project.
Please know that we appreciate your generosity and take the stewardship of your donations seriously, and will only use it for the purposes of making Doug's quality of life better through whatever plan the team comes up with.
Donations made on the GoFundMe page (here) are not tax receiptable. They will be added to the RFD equipment savings fund and used to pay for suite accessibility renovations.
Tax receiptable Donations for Muscular Dystrophy Canada can be made online through the Donate Now link on the Ride For Doug Website
We are hoping to collect as many donations online as possible. Read this for more details.
Thank you in advance for your generosity.
