RESCUE UPDATE: 3 Husky Rescue Turns To 10

Tax deductible
Husky update:  All 7 puppies are healthy and growing fast.  The boys are 6 weeks old and the girls are 5 weeks old. They have all been weaned and  are beginning the first rounds of vaccines. (Approximately $3,000 for 7 pups)  Stormi and Skye will both be spayed, vaccinated and microchipped next week.    (~$900)   Lobo has already been neutered & microchipped, and is finishing up his third week of heartworm treatment.     (~$1300).
After Stormi is spayed, things get even tougher for her.  She will still need heartworm treatment (~$800) then orthopedic surgery (estimating about $3000, but could be more or less.  She will need more veterinarian exams, biopsies and xrays in addition to the surgery itself, plus recovery)
Add to all of this the cost of daily care, supplies and food for 3 dogs and 7 puppies!!!  (About $1500 for the adult dogs to date, and about $3500 for the pups- to date)  Plus all will be receiving  monthly heartworm and flea prevention while in the care of BAPA.  It adds up fast and is beyond exceeding what this non-profit shelter was prepared to take on when they accepted 3 adult huskies.
Please help, please share and spread the word.  Thank you so much to everyone who has donated so far.  Please continue to spread the word, as this rescue mission is far from complete.  For anyone interested in adopting one of the dogs, I would recommend filling out an application and submitting it now.  Skye will be available for adoption next week. (5/10)  She is the sweetest!!  She is so gentle and affectionate.  Lobo will be available for adoption when his heartworm treatment is complete.  Everyone raves about what a good dog he is:  so smart & well behaved- and completely potty trained.  He has come a long way with all of the love and support from shelter staff and volunteers.  The pups will be available for adoption when they are 3 months old and have completed vaccinations and surgeries.  Stormi has a challenging road ahead and will really need ongoing support to overcome some tough challenges.  So not only donations, but prayers would be appreciated for her.
Thank you in advance for helping in any way you can.  It truly does make a difference!!!

A rescue of Three Huskies leads to Ten and many unexpected medical costs.  We NEED your HELP.

A call went out for assistance.  Three huskies, a male and two females ranging in age from 3-8 years, had been abandoned on a one-acre property in Magnolia, Tx.  The neighbors were trying to feed and care for them, but it was overwhelming and the Husky rescues were full.

My friends and I organized a rescue and brought them to Bay Area Pet Adoptions (BAPA).  Unfortunately, all were underweight, two were heartworm positive and one had a mass on her knee.

Then the surprises began…

Skye, the young female gave birth to 3 male puppies four days after arriving at Bay Area Pet Adoptions and Stormi, the senior husky gave birth to 4 female puppies 6 days later.  Upon x-ray it was determined that Stormi had a hard, circular mass the size of a large grapefruit that encompassed her knee.  She is unable to use that leg and it is causing disfigurement of her spinal column.  Amputation is needed for her to live comfortably.

We feel blessed to have saved these precious dogs and puppies, but medical treatment for heartworms, surgery for  Stormi’s leg, vaccinations for all ten, spay and neutering, microchipping, deworming, doctor visits, food and general care far exceeds anything we envisioned when we rescued Lobo, Stormi and Skye.

Please help us ensure these huskies and their offspring receive all the medical treatment they need.  Bay Area Pet Adoptions is a 501c3 no kill shelter in San Leon, Tx completely dependent upon donations.  Your donation from this site goes directly to BAPA. For more information on BAPA please visit BayAreaPetAdoptions.org  or their Facebook page, Bay Area Pet Adoptions/SPCA .
