Stem Cell Transplant for Ray Borne
Donation protected
Ray is only 32 years old with a 14 month old son and in the process of building a home with his girlfriend.
On August 13th Ray went to the oral surgeon to have some teeth pulled and could not stop the bleeding. He went to the hospital that night and was life flighted to Allegheny General Hospital. After testing they discovered that Ray had Acute Myloid Lukemia. He was transferred to West Penn Hospital was officially diagnosed on August 17th and immediately started chemotherapy that evening. He was in West Penn for 28 days. After that he was able to return home with the visiting nurse coming 3 times per week to draw blood and flush the port. He has to go back to West Penn every time his platelettes or blood are low. He has to return to the hospital once a month and stay for a week at a time to have chemo. It has been determined that Ray has to have a stem cell transplant, that we are currently testing for a match. We go in on Monday November 2nd, for transplant consultation. The insurance does not cover anything for the donor or the antirejection drugs. Ray is not receiving any short term disability or income of any type at this time. Please find it in your heart to help us with the medical costs. The last thing we want to do is ask for money but we have no choice. So if you can donate anything, it would be put to good use.
Thank You in advance for any help you can give.
